It is amazing, a blow up of fun:) My family started this tradition when I was younger of setting off the big fireworks shows on the fourth, and other times of the years. My dad has his Pyro's license and we are assigned a show each year. You have to be 18 in order to light so this was my second year lighting and it was amazing:) You get to wear the fireman's gear, hat, goggles, coat, long pants, ear plugs, the works. I also got a flare that I held the entire show that I used to light the mortars with. I was in charge of the boxes, which is where you light one fuse and like 20 mortars all go off. you have to light it and than run, because it has such a huge blast. But, it is a lot of fun, and I am hoping that even when I don't come home in the summer I will be able to come home for the 4th! Here are some pictures of what went on, like I said, if you ever feel like getting a fuse and lighting a mortar it is a lot of fun:)
Setting up the shells in the mortars
A Sign that was on the boxes of shells, this is what was on the boxes I lit off:)
All of the crew in between all of the mortars
All decked out in our fireman's gear
An aerial view of the set up, all of the boxes on the left are what I set off
A view of my brother setting off, this is what it looks like: explosives in your face:)
One of the fireworks we created
That's me below the fireworks that were going off
I am about to light off another box on the right side
Me right behind a box that is going off
My dad setting of the finale, it looks like he is blowing up:)
